We are testing this plugin to use in a monthly subscription model, with Paid Memberships Pro. I asked this question:
Will you confirm that new referral entries will automatically be added every month for every active membership in PMP?
to which Christian answered:
… you need to have the Recurring Referrals add-on enabled to generate monthly recurring commissions on those membership payments.
I installed the plugin, there’s only 2 settings:
* Enable Recurring Referrals checkbox
* Recurring Rate (Enter the commission rate for recurring payments. If no rate is entered, the affiliate’s standard rate will be used.)
This second one is a bit worrying, as MLM does not have a flat rate, but depends on how many sub-affiliates there are, and their levels. So I hope since the MLM plugin is installed, that will be overridden, and the real values will be calculated.
To test this (I do not have a month to wait) I simply cancelled a users PMP subscription level, and then paid it again. Unfortunately AffiliateWP did not even pick this up as a referral! (possibly because this user now did not follow the referral link, but just made his “next monthly payment” by going directly to the site and paying.
Am I missing something here? Did I make wrong assumptions in my testing procedure? Now that I have installed the recurring-referrals add-on, I basically still have the same question:
Will you confirm that new referral entries will automatically be added every month for every active membership in PMP? (and conversely, referral entries for users that to have not paid their monthly PMP subscription, will not be added)
If so, is there another way for me to test this? (instead of waiting for the period to lapse)

I do apologize for the late response. I didn’t receive the notification for your posts.
With the Recurring Rate, you can leave that empty so that MLM will apply the Per-Level Rate you’ve set for Indirect Referrals for Parent Affiliates. And yes, as long as you have PMP enabled in the Integrations tab of the AffiliateWP settings, and the MLM tab as well (To enable Indirect Referrals), it should generate referral commissions for the first sale, and all subsequent subscription payments.
In order for this to work, the first sale must have been a result of a referral, and AffiliateWP will create the Direct Commission, and MLM will create the Indirect Commissions. And the same applies to each membership payment thereafter. The easiest way to test this, is to create new membership level and set it to charge $1 per day. Then, you can test referring a sale of this membership, and you’ll only need to wait a day to see the results.
